NEUROCATCH AND CRANKWORX JOIN FORCES TO PRIORITIZE BRAIN HEALTH IN MOUNTAIN BIKING COMPETITIONS
July 16, 2024
WHISTLER, JULY 16, 2024 — NeuroCatch, a leading medical device company that enables rapid access to an objective assessment of brain health at the point of care, announced its partnership with Crankworx, a wildly popular global mountain biking competition series and festival. The NeuroCatch® Platform will be used for research and brain health assessment among competitors in the event. NeuroCatch specifically provides objective assessment of cognitive function, in minutes at the point-of-care. The collaboration reflects Crankworx’s dedication to advancing rider performance and health, representing a significant step forward in enhancing athlete well-being within the extreme sports community.
The Crankworx World Tour hosts multi-discipline elite and amateur level events at four festivals across the globe: Rotorua (New Zealand), Cairns (Australia), Innsbruck (Austria) and Whistler (Canada). Prioritizing brain health, NeuroCatch’s cognitive assessment capabilities will launch at the Whistler event, taking place from July 19-28.
NeuroCatch’s cognitive assessment provides real-time, objective data on brain function, enabling rapid and accurate brain health evaluation in minutes at the point-of-care. This partnership will empower Crankworx’s research and clinical teams with rapid evaluations of cognitive brain health for the athletes in both a benchmarking research study and in the event of a crash affecting brain health.
“We are thrilled to partner with NeuroCatch to elevate the standard of brain health management in mountain biking,” said Darren Kinnaird, Managing Director of Crankworx. “Our athletes push themselves to the limits physically and mentally, which makes for a great competition, and their well-being has always been and will remain our top priority. Our partnership with NeuroCatch reaffirms our commitment to fostering a supportive environment for all participants, and enables riders to hit these trails with confidence while having fun.”
“As the popularity of mountain biking continues to soar, so does the imperative of athlete brain health, as biking is cognitively demanding and these riders compete to perform at the highest level,” said Dr. Ryan D’Arcy, President and Chief Scientific Officer of HealthTech Connex, which oversees NeuroCatch Inc. “With Crankworx, we are championing brain health research in extreme sports and promoting awareness. We’re excited to support the athletes during the Whistler event and make a meaningful impact in mountain biking here at home and to grow worldwide.”
“Crankworx partnering with NeuroCatch is a significant step forward in ensuring the well-being of athletes and safety in racing more broadly,” stated Aaron Gwin, professional mountain bike rider and World Cup champion. “I’ve used NeuroCatch as part of my training and it takes the guesswork out of brain health evaluation and determination within minutes, enabling me and my team to make the informed decisions around racing performance.”
