How Is It Used?

The NeuroCatch® Platform is intended for the elicitation, acquisition, analysis, storage, reporting and management of event-related potential (ERP) information to aid in assessment of cognitive function of an individual.[1] It is designed for healthcare practitioners to measure the brain function of clients who may be experiencing, or are concerned about, a change in their brain function. A NeuroCatch® scan can be completed at the beginning and end of treatment, with periodic scans in between to track client progress.

NeuroCatch® provides clinicians with a medical-grade cognitive assessment found in the community, which eliminates lengthy delays and travel costs.

Unlike traditional assessments that require behavioural responses and interpreter analysis, NeuroCatch® captures quantifiable information across a spectrum of cognitive brain functions. It measures ERPs which are sensitive to cognitive brain function. Utilizing established normative data and test-retest reliability, the NeuroCatch® provides an empirically validated, sensitive measure of brain health.

There is minimal inconvenience to the client as the scan lasts 6 minutes, with the entire assessment lasting only 10 to 30 minutes.

NeuroCatch® is recommended to be integrated with other clinical assessment tools to validate the findings.

Stimulating
Cognitive Responses

Unique to the NeuroCatch® Platform is the evidence-based method to stimulate specific brain responses involved in cognition. Using a rapid 6-minute simple auditory sequence of basic tones and word pairs it is possible to reliably evaluate the speed and size of these standard brain responses within an individual.

The results from the NeuroCatch® Platform are easy-to-use and immediate. They take complex neuroscience and translate it into simple brain health results. The clinical report is anchored by an intuitive graphic of cognitive brain health. Detailed results on the speed and size of the three different brain responses make up the ABCs of NeuroCatch® Platform (below). The ABCs incorporate a standardized normative framework in which to evaluate individual results.

REPORTING
The NeuroCatch® Platform data processing software takes selected EEG scan data, processes it, and using a proprietary algorithm identifies three distinct peaks in the event-related potential (ERP) data:
  • Auditory Sensation [N100]
  • Basic Attention [P300]
  • Cognitive Processing [N400]

A summary report is generated describing the latency and amplitude of each ERP.
